Natasha Monks
Investment and Trade Commissioner for the Americas
Natasha is the Investment and Trade Commissioner for the Americas and works as part of Invest and Trade Western Australia.
As Investment and Trade Commissioner, Natasha and her team based in Austin in the United States work to attract investment and grow trade opportunities for Western Australian businesses within the Americas region.
Natasha is a senior executive with deep experience in both the public and private sectors. She has most recently been the Chief Executive Officer at the Great Southern Development Commission, delivering economic development outcomes for regional Western Australia.
Prior to this, Natasha served in commercial diplomacy roles focused on growing trade and investment linkages with Australia for the Australian Government in ASEAN and the Americas. Natasha's private sector experience spans global and regional senior management roles that have been based in Singapore, Thailand and Australia across a range of sectors.

Connecting WA at SXSW 2024

Running from March 8-16 2024 in Austin, Texas, SXSW is an annual convergence of festivals, exhibitions and conferences featuring industries on the cutting-edge of technology, design, social good, health and wellness, and more.
An essential destination for global professionals, SXSW proves that the most unexpected discoveries happen when diverse topics and people come together.
And to enhance our local innovators’ experience at SXSW 2024, the Invest and Trade WA team will be running a series of activations and events to help facilitate introductions and connections in Austin.
Invest and Trade WA acts as Western Australia’s ‘front door’ for investors and exporters, facilitating investment into the State and assisting local industry to access new markets.
With 13 locations across 5 regions, the team is set to open its first Americas hub in Austin in early 2024.
WA Investment and Trade Commissioner for the Americas Natasha Monks will oversee operations at the Americas hub, strengthening WA-USA relationships while exploring new opportunities for WA businesses looking to expand into the region.
The US was WA’s 6th largest trading partner in 2022, with a total trade worth of around $8.7 billion.
The capital of Texas, Austin has emerged as a hub for technology and innovation in the US. Similarly, WA is set to become a renowned global hub of invention, investment, innovation and impact, with a thriving digital tech and innovation industry.
