WA new energies on display for UK Clean Energy delegation

We would like to extend a warm welcome to the UK Clean Energy delegation who visited Western Australia for 3 days last week, en route to the 2023 Global Wind Energy Council Forum in Melbourne.

The delegation was led by the UK Department for International Trade and joined by the British Consul General of Western Australia, Maria Rennie, as well as the Scottish Development International comprising private clean-energy business majors including Acteon, Hydrasun, JBA Consulting, Motive Offshore, Norco, Ocean Infinity and Venterra.

During the 3-day visit, the delegation was given an in-depth look into WA’s green hydrogen and renewable energy sectors.

The delegation received briefings by the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation’s (JTSI) Invest and Trade Western Australia (ITWA), Industry Development, and Hydrogen and New Energies teams on the international orientation of the WA economy, its future diversification, and how this relates to green hydrogen and renewable energies.

Following the briefings at JTSI’s Perth offices, ITWA arranged for the delegation to tour ATCO’s blending and refuelling premises and BP’s Kwinana Energy hub to learn more about these companies’ future energy priorities.

The UK Clean Energy visit was hosted by ITWA as part of the WA Government’s strategic drive to develop the State’s renewable energy profile.

The visit underscores WA’s commitment to deepening its collaboration with the UK and other international partners in the green hydrogen and renewable energy sectors, as well as promoting a deeper understanding of the State’s journey to net zero.

More information about WA’s green hydrogen strategy can be found in the WA Government’s Renewable Hydrogen Investment Prospectus.
