Western Australia appoints new Investment and Trade Commissioners

Congratulations and a warm welcome to Western Australia’s (WA's) newly appointed Investment and Trade Commissioners for Tokyo, Jakarta and Singapore.

Bryce Green has been appointed Investment and Trade Commissioner for ASEAN (Indonesia) and will be based in Jakarta.

Bryce is currently A/Investment and Trade Commissioner for ASEAN and has successfully led high-profile Ministerial missions and industry delegations to the ASEAN region, including the Indonesia Connect Roadshow in September 2023, the Western Australian Government’s largest overseas investment and trade mission.

Bryce has fostered successful partnerships with government and industry across the ASEAN region and has supported Invest and Trade Western Australia’s recent establishment in Malaysia and the Philippines. Having lived and worked in Jakarta, Bryce is fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and has a strong understanding of business and cultural practices.

Betty Yang has been appointed Investment and Trade Commissioner for ASEAN (Singapore) and will be based in Singapore.

Betty has previously worked in business development roles across the public and private sectors where she built strategic relationships with international clients in the Asia Pacific, North America and Europe to drive commercial outcomes. Betty is a native Mandarin Chinese speaker.

Most recently, Betty has worked in climate industry policy where she has developed a strong understanding of Western Australia’s energy transition and decarbonisation commitments.

Michael Sharp has been appointed Investment and Trade Commissioner for North East Asia and will be based in Tokyo. Michael has a strong background in governance, strategic policy and stakeholder engagement, and has led a range of complex projects within the education sector to support government priorities.

He is passionate about education exchange and supporting business opportunities in Western Australia from the North East Asia region.

Michael has previously lived in Japan, speaks fluent Japanese and has a strong understanding of Japanese and South Korean cultures.

The new Commissioners will undertake a period of induction and onboarding before being deployed to their markets.

Bryce, Betty and Michael join the State’s strong overseas investment and trade leadership team, which includes Juan Lu, Nashid Chowdhury, Natasha Monks and newly appointed Agent General Angela Kelly.
