Singaporean biomedical companies recently welcomed to Perth
The Department of Energy and Economic Diversification (DEED), through Invest and Trade Western Australia (WA), recently welcomed a delegation of Singaporean health and medtech companies to Perth.
Led by Singapore’s startup ecosystem leader, Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE.SG), the delegation’s visit was the first activation under a Memorandum of Understanding signed with DEED in December 2024.
The delegation's visit provided an overview of WA’s health and medical life sciences landscape and opportunity to meet with a range of organisations in WA to better understand opportunities in the State, research capabilities, funding pathways and commercialisation support services.

The program included visits to several precincts within the QEII Medical Centre, Fiona Stanley and Royal Perth Hospitals together with meetings with universities, incubators, investors and support organisations such as the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, and The Kids Research Institute.
The Singaporean companies were able to receive valuable insights into the opportunities and support available in WA’s health and medical life sciences sector, and connections with key innovators, particularly in areas such as collaborative biomedical research and early-stage clinical trials.
WA stakeholders were provided the opportunity to discover the innovative technologies emerging from Singapore and explore possibilities for future collaboration between the two ecosystems.
One highlight of the program was the Welcome Event hosted in partnership with WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub (WALSIH), Invest and Trade WA and Spacecubed.
Attendees heard from WA companies Earflo, REX Ortho and Perth Biodesign about their journeys as innovative startups and entrepreneurs in the local biomedical industry.
Visiting companies ConnectingDNA, Mesh Bio, Auristone, and Singapore Biodesign (A*STAR) were also provided an opportunity to pitch their work.
Simone Spencer, Deputy Director General of Strategy and International Engagement at DEED highlighted the success of the event in her concluding address.

Special thanks to WALSIH, Spacecubed, South Metropolitan Health Service, and the Department of Health for their support of the program.
WA’s strategic partnerships play a vital role in strengthening the State’s engagement with Asia, in line with Western Australia's Asian Engagement Strategy 20192030 - Our future with Asia.
