Western Australia welcomes Japanese business delegation
Invest and Trade Western Australia (WA) were pleased to welcome a Japanese business delegation this week, led by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO).
The delegation included representatives from a range of key Japanese companies, including EBARA Corporation, Hitachi, Fukui Seisakusho, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Sumitomo, Toho Gas Co., ENEOS Group, Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Osaka Gas Australia, Marubeni Corporation, Yokogawa Electric Corporation, IHI Rotating Machinery Engineering Co., Ltd., and Mitsui & Co.
The delegate program focused on hydrogen and renewable energy projects, research and technology in Western Australia, including a range of site visits and briefings hosted by:
- The University of Western Australia – FenEx CRC
- Curtin University – HILT CRC
- Consulate-General of Japan in Perth
- Pilbara Ports
- Woodside Energy
- Yara Pilbara
- Rio Tinto (Dampier Salt)
- Carbon 280 The delegation spent two days in the Pilbara visiting key sites near Karratha and in Port Hedland, followed by programming in Perth and Kwinana.

Japan is Western Australia’s 2nd largest trading partner in 2024-25, with $28.2 billion of goods traded, including $24.9 billion of goods exported.
