Western Australia promoted as an ideal study destination in Cambodia

Invest and Trade Western Australia’s (WA) ASEAN Hub recently welcomed a delegation of fifteen WA education providers and StudyPerth to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Across a two-day program, the delegation participated in a one-of-its-kind, large-scale engagement to promote WA as a destination that offers students an immersive education experience and enviable lifestyle.

Specifically, the delegation attended presentations, panel discussions and meetings with Cambodian agents and counsellors, helping them better understand WA’s student experience and post-study options they can promote to prospective students.

A highlight of the program was an Open Day delivered in collaboration with IDP Cambodia, connecting WA’s high-quality education institutions with over 600 eager Cambodian students and parents. 

StudyPerth also provided a prize draw for the Open Day, with one lucky winner receiving a return airfare to WA!

Invest and Trade WA would like to thank Derek Yip, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, and Bridget Collier, Deputy Head of Mission, Austrade Southeast Asia, for their support in making the delegation’s visit such a success.

Events such as these continue to promote WA to international students as home to a wide variety of academic, social and career opportunities. They also showcase WA's safe and vibrant multicultural communities, alongside amazing landscapes and stunning weather.

In fact, WA's enrolments from Cambodian students increased 11 per cent between 2024 and 2025. There are also several Cambodian schools delivering the Western Australia Certificate of Education (WACE) curriculum.
